Labor Day Weekend always feels like the last hurrah of summer, even though summer isn’t technically over until September 22nd. This weekend is the perfect time to gather with friends and family outdoors before the we are in the midst of falling leaves and chilly days. Take advantage of the last of the seasons fantastic produce and grilling weather. I’ve gathered up recipes to try this weekend using some of my favorite summer ingredients like figs, stone fruit, blue berries and sweet corn. I’m not sure about you, but I’ve never understood the statement “time is a social construct” more than I have in quarantine. Days seem to fly by while also taking forever all at the same time, and the pass of each month never ceases to take me by a great surprise. Keeping a routine and rhythm is the one thing that can gives me some sense of “normalcy” and control in my day.
November is quickly approaching, which means the upcoming election is closer than ever before. Even with shelter in place orders, there are still many ways to become involved in this year’s election and do your part.
It’s fire season, and there’s no doubt that this is one of our craziest years yet. More acreage has burned than ever before, and it seems as if our entire state is being affected in one way or another. We may seem powerless when it comes to protecting ourselves, loved ones, and essential workers from the detriment of the fires, but there are indeed ways to become involved in the fight.
