The 2021 Giving Back Sale

The biggest Etta + Billie sale of the year is just around the corner and we are so excited so rally donations for a cause very close to our hearts - food insecurity! Each year, Black Friday weekend is dedicated to using our shopping traffic to raise funds for a local food bank. Rather than a Black Friday sale, I've always wanted to make this holiday madness about fundraising! Food Share Ventura County 

Etta + Billie's local food bank is Food Share Ventura County. Their organization was established in 1973 since 1978. Their journey even started by bringing meals to unhoused individuals in the community. Today, Food Share Ventura partners with local farms a businesses to feed the community. And thanks to hundreds of volunteers, over a million pounds of food is rescued, purchased, sorted, and distributed each month. Their website explains that, "Today, staff and volunteers distribute more than 17 million pounds of food, or more than 20 million meals annually through its 190 pantry and program partners. As Ventura County’s regional food bank, Food Share provides food for over 75,000 hungry friends and neighbors monthly."

We have been working with food banks for our annual Giving Back Sale and for team building events since 2016. I am proud to say that in the last 5 years, we've donated a total of $3,275 which is about 11,462 meals!! Food insecurity is a major focus of mine because individuals and families should always have access to meals & nutrition - despite their income, location, or circumstance. Food Share, the national food bank network, states that "Currently, 38 million people in the U.S. face hunger. Unemployment, underemployment, and low wages are all playing a role. That means for many of our neighbors, putting food on the table remains a daily struggle." That is a staggering number, and calls for major action!
